We stayed here for a family wedding in December 2022 that was in a venue close by. I was quite anxious about staying here due to having read some bad reviews before hand but on arrival I was pleasantly surprised. Our flight was delayed so we arrived in the early hours of the morning where we were warmly greeted and looked after. The hotel was very clean and the staff were exceptional. We really enjoyed our breakfast and had dinner there one night which was excellent. One member of staff which stood out was Helen in the breakfast room. She was extremely nice and helpful and looked after the group so well and ensured we had everything we needed. It was a perfect location for the nearby wedding. We did not use the spa but based on our stay I would highly recommend this hotel to others and would definitely stay here again in the future. Geraldine (Ireland)

Breakfast was lovely but felt it should have been in with the price for what we paid. It was a lovely choice for breakfast and the staff were lovely. Room was ok though carpet and upholstery not very inviting. Bed comfortable though. In the room there was nice added touches like crisps as well as biscuits. Nice mugs and in bathroom toiletries were nice in as much as there was a spare new toothbrush and comb. Hairdryer and iron was nice yo have as well. Didnt use the spa

Spa was great , room was comfy ( probably could do with a lick of paint ) very clean , dinner was varied and plentiful - one of the best vege menus we have seen , out meateaters were also pleased . Breakfast was delicious and plentiful . Complimentary bottle of wine and water ( nice touch ) . overall we were pleased with the hotel and its location . We will look at the Mathu group again

Downstairs area was very nice, dressed for Christmas and comfortable. Swimming pool area and lounge as comfortable and enjoyable. Dinner was amazing, fabulous quality food and service. Breakfast too was comfortable and tons of choice. Double room allocated instead of a family room but this was swiftly sorted for us.

Reception and bar/restaurant/kitchen staff were doing a great job despite an appreciable lack of staff and not quite the hotel not appreciating what Thoresby Eventing Spring Carnival in terms of numbers and timings nearby meant. But they all stepped up and adapted well.
